Not From Concentrate INDEFINITE HIATUS... for now...

So... you've probably noticed that there hasn't been any comics for a while. My creative lull has lasted much longer than I would have hoped. Ever since the end of the last semester I have been struggling. Every now and then I'd hit an oasis and have an idea I'd really like, but for the most part, I wasn't liking the comics I was posting. I didn't think they were funny, but had to post them because I had a schedule to keep. This also made creating the comics a chore rather than something I wanted to do. For these reasons, Not From Concentrate will be taking an indefinite hiatus, lasting at least through next Spring. I am hopeful that this isn't the end, but that isn't necessarily a guarantee.

I apologize to those who have discovered the comic and are disappointed with my decision. Let me first say that this blew up way bigger than anything I thought it would. I am glad that people have enjoyed my work and hope you will understand.

That bites the big one, but I can definitely understand. I'll miss this as my alternate-to-xkcd-day comic strip. :(

See you next spring, I suppose.

Darn, I was so excited to see the site up again.

It WAASS part of my morning routine... I so looked forward to checking them out, but understand. Maybe stuff will come up when you get back on campus.

Do well in your senior year (and I still think you could do this as a career) All artists go through dry spells.

This is truely tragic! I found it difficult to get up in the morning when I knew there wasn't a NFC comic waiting for me and now... I dunno what I am gonna do with my self. You slotted in so perfectly with xkdc. Hand in hand. You better be back next spring or I'll be most distraught.

I absolutely loved this comic. It was that perfect level of "wrongness" that just makes ya laugh until everyone stares at you because you are reading NFC and they're all sitting around quietly doing the crossword. Great Work. Really.
Hope to see it back one day.

    Tom,

My son turned me onto NFC with your imaginary number friend strip. As a mathematician, I enjoyed your occasional venture into number humor and found it refreshing. NFC #228 is up in my cubicle at the Census Bureau. I will miss your strip if for no other reason, it gave my son and I something to talk about that we could both relate to and enjoy.
I hope your muse returns to you soon.

D'oh... I opened up the Diamondback today, first day wasting my time back in class with it, and was saddened to find that the missing comic I had heard about was yours... I pretty much only picked up that rag every day the past year and a half or however long it's been just to read your comic.
Oh well... you were on C&H level... maybe even xkcd. Don't give up forever.

I'm really sorry to hear the news. Your comic was one of the main reasons I read the Diamondback, and it was definately the only comic strip that was funny all the time, and really the only one that was funny ever. I know I'm not the only one who hopes you come out of your slump. Good luck and thanks for the comics we already have.

Calvin & Hobbes isn't old... it's a frigging classic. Much more of a classic than Cyanide & Happiness will ever be.

    September 5, 2008 4:28 PM
    Anonymous Anonymous said...

Classic it may be, but only an "old person" would interpret C&H to be calvin & hobbes instead of the obvious parallel.

I may be blowing your mind here, but I bet more people would draw a connection between NFC and cyanide&happiness than they would NFC and calvin&hobbes.

Watch 8 hours of Invader ZIM.
Get clearly into the absurdist glee of GIR.

Excercise: GIR mistakes a pile of Rocky Mountain Oysters for Waffles,

Please come back! Your comic is the best I've ever read! It doesn't even have to be a regular comic. Even one strip every month or two would be great! Thanks for all the comics you've given us in the past.

    Two things.

One - You seem to have a loyal fanbase; the kind who check the page day after day for a new comic. I know I do! If Scott Ramsoomair can get away with posting one comic to VGCats every couple of months, you can too.

Two - Nobody else is seeing a problem with your comics. This leads me to believe that it's a self esteem problem that's making you think your comics suck. Install phpBB or some other forum software on your web server, get to know the community and get their feedback on how creative and funny you are.

    Bring the damn comic back!

    Hi there!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For quite a long time, I make money with the help of these programs.
I don't have problems with money now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and my first investment was 500 dollars only.
Right now, I'm very close at catching at last a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.
